History

1985 – Incorporated in March. STI was founded as an engineering and technical consulting firm serving the automotive and electronics manufacturing industries.

1986 – Expanded operations by opening a manufacturing facility alongside the existing engineering office, adding light fabrication capabilities for equipment supplied to automotive and electronics manufacturers.

1989 – Relocated to a new facility with 8,500 square feet of manufacturing space and 2,000 square feet of office space, with expansion capability up to 40,000 square feet.

1994 – Completed Phase 1 expansion in the fall, adding 7,000 square feet of manufacturing space for a total of 14,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space

1995 – Expanded both technical and manufacturing capabilities with the opening of a 5,000 square foot facility in Roanoke, Virginia, operating as Systems Technology of Virginia

1999 – Systems Technology of Virginia purchased an 8,000 square foot building just outside of Roanoke, Virginia, with occupancy beginning in August 2000

1999 – Attained ISO 9002 Certification in May

2003 – Attained ISO 9001:2000 Certification

2007 – Sold Systems Technology of Virginia LLC to its minority member in January

2010 – Attained ISO 9001:2008 Certification

2017 – Attained AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 Certification

2019 – Grant Farnaby, son of founder Melvin Farnaby, became President and CEO of STI. With over 25 years of experience at the company, he continues STI’s commitment to quality and innovation.
